Designs Revealed for New Jersey's First Supertall Building
The Jersey City Planning Board voted to amend the Colgate Redevelopment Plan to permit the construction of a 95-story, 990-foot (302-meter) residential tower at 99 Hudson Street. The tower’s height will make it the tallest in the city and the state upon completion.
Skyscraper With a Curving "Waist" Coming to Vienna
A Rotterdam-based firm has won a contest to design a new addition to the Vienna skyline by proposing a 110-meter tower with an "elegant, hourglass figure" that will reduce the impact of its shadow. The twist also serves to diffuse the wind and enliven the lower part of the tower.
London’s "Can of Ham" Back on Track After Six-Year Hiatus
London's skyline could be about to add another delicious-sounding skyscraper to its lineup. The "Can of Ham" building looks to be back on track after a six-year hiatus. The project received planning permission in 2008, but was delayed in the wake of the financial crisis.
Taichung Mayor Suspends Plans for City Landmark as Budget Surges
Taichung mayor Lin Chia-lung has temporarily halted development of Sou Fujimoto's tree-inspired 300-meter tower for the city, which he says is "problematic" in terms of structure, safety, and ballooning costs. Total costs are reported to have increased from $251 million to $472 million.
New York's B2 is Back in Business
As anticipated by the CTBUH in our tall building predictions for 2015, construction has finally resumed on the 32-story modular residential building next to the Barclays Center, after a five-month hiatus stemming from a legal dispute over the pre-fabricated design.
Beirut’s Credit Libanais Tower Approaches Completion
The $67 million Credit Libanais Tower is approaching completion in the Ashrafieh district of Beirut, Lebanon. The rocket-shaped glass building, which was designed to meet green construction standards, is topped out, fully clad, and will be ready to accept tenants in early 2015.
